Also the voluntary fire brigade of Pythagorion is helping Anima Care Samos
2010-02-04

The voluntary fire-brigade of Pythagorion has offered his help as well to the shelter of ACS at Samos. Just like the fire-brigade of Kokkari did before. During the last two months the fire-brigade of Pythagorion brought 5000 ltrs of water to the shelter for free. They also brought a dog to the shelter who was run over by a car. His left back leg was injured. You could easily see this because he was dragging this leg. Actually he was walking on only three legs. Right now, he is already doing better and is recovering from his injury. He got the appropriate name Pytha.

We are very greatful with the help of the voluntary fire-brigade of Pythagorion! Thanks a lot and keep on helping us

How Tofu finally became a free dog
2009-12-14
How Tofu finally became a free dog

When you have lived your live chained up and – finally free – turn out to have a hernia luck doesn’t seem to be on your side. But for the dog Tofu, the opposite was true.

In April of 2009 Tofu arrived on the Animal Care Samos shelter. He was clearly undernourished and had lived for eight years chained up on the island. In spite of his misery he was a very friendly and social dog. Finding him a foster home in Germany turned out to be easy.
But then another problem occurred. Tofu had a hernia and needed an operation costing around 1200 euro’s. Not the kind of money everybody has…. Whoever thinks this is the end of a happy story: you’re wrong! Volunteer Farida immediately took action and asked vet Stefan, whom she works for, if he had a solution. And he did… Not much later he operated Tofu and solved his hernia. All this with the (financial) help of Samos Hilfe and dierenkliniek Statenlaan in The Hague.
Right now Tofu is recovering from his surgery under the loving care of volunteers Tom and Ingrid. A permanent home for him still needs to be found.

Farida, Stefan, Tom, Ingrid, dierenkliniek Statenlaan en Samos Hilfe a thousand times thanks for your great care!

Twenty one dogs find a new home
2009-12-02

Several times a year a transport of dogs leaves the island for Germany. Last November was no exception. Thanks to volunteers Tom and Erik 21 dogs left Samos to find a better life abroad.

Toms story: ‘The 26th of November we left the shelter with 21 dogs at four in the morning. Due to a changed ferry- schedule we had a four day journey ahead. This also meant staying over an extra night. Luckily we could use our fellow travelers motor home for that. All in all the journey went well. One dog got carsick but this only lasted for one day.’
‘Every time we moved on all the dogs had to go for a walk and have their food and drinks. With 21 dogs this takes around two hours each time… At some point we drove all night so that travelling wouldn’t last any longer than necessary. After four days we arrived in Germany and brought all the dogs to their foster homes. At seven in the evening we finally arrived in Holland’

This trip would never have been possible without the help of Danish friends of animals, Samos Hilfe,Greek animal rescue and volunteers Tom and Erik. Thank you so much!!!

Iris Korver s organizing an Art auction to help the animals on Samos.
2009-11-04

Once again Iris is organizing a great project to help the animals on the island Samos. She is organizing a big art auction, which will be held on march/April of 2010.

All the money that will be collected by this auction goes to the Animal Care Foundation to keep up doing their important task.

Iris already approached 40 artist who are willing to donate one or more art objects for the auction.

Among them are quite some big names! Iris is hoping to get at least 60 art works auctioned!

Iris made a website where you can get more information about the auction, the artists and their work.

www.kunstvoordieren.info

We are all very excited and hope it will turn out to be a big succes!

Golden team helps 45 animals
2009-08-04
Once you get involved with animal care samos and the plight of the animals, you cannot turn your back.

That's something Farida showed, she is involved with Animal Care Samos from the beginning, and volunteered on different occasions.
In June she came back, as a trained vet nurse, to Samos.

After working as a volunteer for some years , she decided to learn more about animal welfare. She decided to go back to school to study to become a vet nurse. After hard work she passed the exams in May. Except a reason to party it also meant more.
She booked a flight to Samos together with vet Stefan Roncal , a vet she works with in Holland.

The golden team worked hard for one week.
They amputated one leg of hunting dog tripple, who was so unfortunate to be trapped in a hunters trap. Also they removed the eye of cat Stevie (more about her in the happy endings section). Tripple could walk in less than 2 days after surgery, and is now walking happily with the group every day.
Also they neutered and spayed a lot of animals, in total 45 animals were helped!

Animal Care Samos would like to thank them!

Food and medicines thanks to Thea from Arnhem
2009-07-17
Who thinks that people who support Animal Care Samos only support Animal Care Samos have to think again.

Thea from Arnhem actually works for a shelter on Malta, but she already donated food and medicines to Samos 4 times!

This active volunteer gets all these things from shelters an local pet shops. She takes care that all the collected things go to different shelters.

If there weren't people like Thea a lot of animals would have a worse life.

Thea and all the shops and shelters that support her: Thank you very very much!

Catfood and cattoys collected.
2009-07-17
Volunteers Karin and Erik once again collected quite some goods. This time they managed to collect catfood, cattoys an chairs for in the garden.

It's extra nice they collected stuff for the cats this time. Because although dogs are a big part of the work of Animal Care Samos , they also care about the Greek cats.

The parents from Erik gave Animal Care Samos a computer. This is very needed to mail from the house of the volunteers and also to keep the database with all the info about the animals up to date.

Karin, Erik and parents: Thank you very much!

Another big improvement on the shelter thaks to Grandpa Dries and grandma Kinnny!
2009-07-17
When you work for an organization like Animal Care Samos you do not come only across a lot of animal cruelty but you also get the chance to meet some great people with a really big heart!

Two of those persons are grandpa Dries and Grandma Kinny. Thanks to their very generous donation it was possible to make concrete on the floor of the entire backfield. For the dogs this means life definitely got better.

"Last year Jeroen and Roos spend their holiday on Samos" Tells volunteer Ingrid. "They visited the shelter twice during their stay. Jeroen told that his grandparents give a financial donation once a year to an organization especially to organizations who provide animal welfare. They thought they might be interested in giving a donation to the Animal Care Samos shelter"

Once back in Holland Jeroen, Roos and grandma Kinny pay a visit to Tom and Ingrid to see who is behind this organization they were told about.
Not much later Tom and Ingrid Visited Grandpa Dries and grandma Kinny.

Ingrid: "they wanted to know exactly what really needed to be done on the shelter and what was most needed. I told them that it was really important to us to put concrete on the backfield. In the winter when it rains it's terrible for the dogs to be on this muddy clay ground. And in the summer there are millions flies and fleas, because we can not clean the backfield with a high pressure cleaner"

What Tom Ingrid and Joeri never dared to even imagine happened: Animal Care Samos received a really large donation from grandma Kinny, grandpa Dries, Jeroen, Roos and Paula (the mother from Jeroen).

Ingrid: " Last May we got to work. First we made together with Joeri and the Dutch volunteers Karin, Erik Sara. And Peppe from Finland a wall around the field. Than the concrete could be put in to place, after 3 weeks of hard work it was finished."

Grandma Kinny and grandpa Dries, Jeroen, Roos and Paula Thank you so much!!

22 dogs on their way to a new life!
2009-06-16
End of April beginning of May Bas, Jasper and Gonzalo, 3 Dutch guys made a trip to Samos.

They were asked by Animal Care Samos if they were able to do this trip. Bas did it once before and motivated his friends to join him to do this great job.
Although it was on very short notice the decided to go for it!

So with a van fully loaded with some great stuff; Food for the animals, medicines, blankets, towels, skykennels and so on they went on their way, and the long journey could begin.

They took a bit of a touristic route to enjoy the beautiful city Roma where they charged themselves with good itallien food, coffee and great scenery's.

But then it was time to buckle up again and continue the trip to Samos.

Two days and two boats later they arrived on Samos where they were welcomed by Joeri, Tom and Ingrid and off course a lot of dogs and cats!

They spend three and a half days on Samos, helping at the shelter and getting to know the dogs they would bring along.
There was even a little time to cruise around on the Island and see some of the gorgeous parts of Samos.

But then the exciting day was there and it was time to leave again. It always takes a lot of time to arrange the van and getting all the paperwork done.

And off they went on their way to Germany with 22 dogs in the back. First two boats and then they arrived in Italy where the roadtrip really started!

During this entire period they have to take all the dogs for walks , which is quite a difficult task, realizing these are 22 excited dogs full of energy and very curious about all the new smells abroad! You can imagine there was some arm pulling going on there!

Their first real rest stop was at the house of Klaus and Anita , where also some of the new family's and foster family's were waiting for their new doggy friends.
Here the dogs enjoyed another walk with the help of Klaus and Anita and some other great people.

After a goodnight of sleep it was time to start at the last day of this journey.

All the dogs met their new family's and as you can tell by looking at the pictures the people and the animals were happy!

We would like to thank Bas, Jasper and Gonzalo for their great effort! They did a great job! And we hope they will do another trip again some day!

This transport was sponsered by:
Danish Friends of Animals
Greek Animal Rescue
Samos Hilfe Germany.

A very big thank you to them! Without them it wouldn't have been possible! And remember keep sponsoring them and make this work possible! Thank you.

Also we would like to tell that Bas, Jasper and Gonzalo filmed a lot on Samos and are planning to make a movie about the work from animal care samos. As soon as we know when it's ready and when and how you are able to watch it we will keep you updated trough this news page.

Another big donation by some great supporters!
2009-04-26
It is great to see how people are all working together in the interest of animals!

Thea van Heesewijk collects a lot of stuff all over Holland! But...where to put it? Luckily Anja and Liesbeth are so kind to pick it up and store it in their house.

They've adopted Lisa (Tessa) and are always ready when the shops are calling to pick up great stuff!

Last time Thea, Anja and Liesbeth arranged a few hundred of kilo's of dog food and great other things like benches, collars, tennis balls, and some really nice dog beds which are great for recovery after surgery! Cause they are nice and soft and easy to clean!

We would like to thank them al once again!

(On the picture you see Anja and Liesbeth and their dog Tessa they've adopted from Samos)

Another trainingtrip with wvs in April
2009-04-25
In April a team from the worldwide veterinary service traveled to the island Rhodes to do a great Neutering campaign.

A perfect way to reduce the stray population and to teach just graduates and/ or students!

Unfortunately Rhodes municipality didn't think the same about this. So there was the team ready to get to work....but no place to go to with permission.

Than they decided to call Animal Care Samos and try to find out if they were welcome there.

And off course they were more than welcome!!! Because spaying and neutering is such an important part of the job, Animal Care Samos didn't say no to this project but welcomed them with open arms.

The team consisting of the following members:
Nicole Nagel (Vet)
Karen Ekman (Vet)
Michelle Rees (Vet Nurse)
Claire Duncan (vetstudent)
Margo Dybalski (vetstudent)
Jennifer Godman (vetstudent)
Veronica Rodriguez (vetstudent)
did a great job! A lot of animals were helped and the students gained some really valuable experience and knowledge.

In total they helped:
18 female cats
21 male cats
7 female dogs
7 male dogs

2 of the male dogs were cryptorchide which means they have only one ball that has been lowered into the scrotum and they had to find the other ball , such an operation is much more complicated.

This trip was payed by trough WVS ( www.wvs.org.uk ) and we could rent the car they used for free.

Thank you so much WVS for your great team!

And the team members know they will always be welcome on Samos to help the animals.

Another neutering program!
2009-04-09
This time we had a small team coming over just one vet and one vetnurse, but they accomplished a lot of work!

In the surgery and outside of it, Ariel the vet even helped cleaning the shelter and did some tiling in the house, a handy man!

Ariel and Sara came all the way from England and were invited by the WVS ( www.wvs.org.uk )Whom also payed for the neccisary drugs and medicines.

They neutered 45 dogs and 9 cats also they amputated one frontleg from a huntingdog with a major leg problem.

We would like to thank WVS who made this possible and Ariel and Sara for their great efford! They are always welcome to come back! ;-)

yet again 20 dogs get a chance on a good life!
2009-03-13
Peter one of our drivers from Germany left past month for Samos with a van fully loaded with food for the animals, medicines, towels, blankets and other useful stuff for on Samos.

On the way up to Samos Peter had to drive all the way alone because one of our volunteers Anna who worked at the shelter for 3 months was coming back with Peter.

The way up was pretty fast it took Peter only 3 days and 2 boats to get to Samos!

First all the goods were unloaded and sorted.
But then it was time to meet all the dogs among them the ones who would join them on their way back to Germany.

In total Anna and Peter took 20 dogs to Germany!

The trip from Samos to Germany with a van full with dogs is always pretty heavy, because you have to walk all the dogs, which takes a lot of time, and also you are in a pretty tight schedule because people are expecting you.
Luckily the temperature was really good for the dogs.

The trip back took a total from 4 days and it all went well.
Anna told us that Peter is a really good car DJ!

On the way back peter and Anna spend one night at the house of Klaus and Anita , where they could take a shower had a meal and could get well rested for the rest of the journey.
Also Klaus and Anita like to help with walking the dogs which safes a lot of time!

We are very happy that so many dogs yet again got a chance for a second better life! And we would like to thank Peter, Anna, Klaus and Anita.

Transports like this cost a lot of money for petrol and boat costs .

This time Greek Animal Rescue and Samos Hilfe Germany, paid for the entire trip, without them it wouldn't have been possible.

Thank you so much Samos Hilfe Germany and Greek Animal Rescue!!

Please check out their website: www.greekanimalrescue.com

Media attention for the animals on Samos written by one of our volunteers Sara Noot.
2009-03-09
During Sara's last stay on the island Samos she wrote a big article for a good dutch dog magazine called "hondenleven" which means "dogs life"

It is in the spingspecial, and for sale in the dutch bookshops.

It turned out to be a great article! And we recommend every one who can read dutch to buy it!

It is great that there is some attention for the stray problem on Samos and the whole of Greece, and also for the people who are trying to make a change.
After reading this you can really get a perspective of how one day at the shelter looks like.

Thea received her painting she won with the dutch lottery
2009-03-09
The painting which was donated by Joop van Zeitveld was brought to the happy winner from the lottery last weekend.

She was really happy and the painting will get a prominent place in her house.

Also she collected some things for the Samos shelter which is really great!

We are very pleased that the lottery was such a succes!

Winner lottery in Holland
2009-03-01
Thea from arnhem with number 1207 has won the beautyfull painting made and donated by Joop van Zeitveld.

Congratulations!

We would like to take this chance to thank Iris korfer for organizing this lottery.

In total 649 tickets were sold! The money raised by this will be used to build a cathome in the garden where sick and wounded cats can stay for the first few days.
The rest will be put in the shelter there is always something there to improve renovate and so on.

Another successful neutering campaign!
2009-02-16
Veterinarian Jan Meinen and his wife Lieneke from Leeuwarden the Netherlands came to volunteer for one week on the island Samos to do a neutering campaign, they achieved a lot in such a short period.

The neutered 12 tomcats and spayed 14 cats.

Also they removed a tumor and amputated one eye.

On top of that they managed to neuter 14 male dogs and spay 15 bitches.

The flight to Samos was payed by the dutch animal care samos organization, and the much needed anesthetics and , medicines by Greek Animal Rescue ( www.greekanimalrescue.com ) and Worldwide veterinary service ( www.wvs.org.uk ). We would like to take this chance to thank them again for their ongoing support!

We hope that we meet Jan and Lieneke again at our project and would like to thank them very much for their efforts! You can see them in action on the pictures.

Neutering campaigns are a very important part of our work on samos, because it is the only long term humane solution for the stray problem on Samos.

meeting with samos dogs in Finland organized by sanna
2009-02-08
Tom and Ingrid were invited to join a Samos dog reunion in Finland organized by sanna.

Sanna rehomed these dogs in Finland, and she is the one who stays in contact with the new owners there.
(Sanna is the woman in the black and white shirt)

All the new owners and Tom and Ingrid and Sanna met in old school building in a forest in Finland, where the would spend the entire weekend.

Of course there was a lot of dogtalk going on , and it was great to see all the samos doggies so happy enjoying the good life in a land filled with snow (something most of them had probably never seen before they came to Finland).

Every day there were walks in the snow and on a big frozen lake the dogs were having great fun, and so did all the people!

All the dogs did get along fine, something where samos dogs are known for (they are used to live in packs and are very social!).

Tom and Ingrid would like to thank every one who came (some even drove 500 km to join!!) and for the great hospitality, they had a great time!

One of the geusts is even going to Samos to volunteer for 2 months. More about that later on.

Animal Medical Care Foundation made another donation!
2009-01-15
We would like to thank AMCF for their last donation which included medical supplies and defleaing and deworming material, it took the package about one month to arrive from Holland but it got here in one piece!

Thank you Jan and Kathleen
2009-01-05
Not only do Jan and Kathleen from Holland donate a lot of goods , like blankets , medical equipment towels and so on.

Also when they are on Samos they help out a lot on the shelter.

You can tell Kathleen is a beauty specialist when she is finished with the dogs they all look great!

jan is always helping out on and around the shelter as a handy man, which is great!

But beside that they also adopted 3 dogs from Samos!

Ella, samos and kari.

They are all doing great and enjoy their walks in The netherlands very much!

Dutch lottery
2009-01-03
Animal Care Samos Holland is organizing a lottery.

Dutch tax refund by new rules.Only for dutch members
2008-12-28
A new tax rule for dutch donations. Since two weeks is it possible for dutch tax payers to get a part off the donated money back from the dutch tax authorities.

This is great for the supporters who donate big amounts of money, the get a tax refund!

And who doesn't love to get money back?

Yet another transport, by Tom and Jan!
2008-12-10
At the end of November it was time again for another transport to Samos, with food and useful things for the animals. Tom and Jan were the drivers, but this time they brought something special along as well, Anna a new volunteer!

When Tom an Jan left from Holland it was uncertain if the boat would sail as usual because there was a big storm ahead, but luckily it did sail , and so there were no delays!

They brought a lot of good things like food, blankets some medicines.

After a few days on Samos it was time for Tom and Jan to return back home with a van full of dogs, who would now have the chance to find a good house.

On the way back they were checked by the police bnbut when all there paperwork turned out to be fine they were allowed to start driving again.

We are really happy that somany dogs got a chance to find a good loving home, and that there is now enough food for the winter months.

Big donation from Ijsvogelgroep
2008-11-21
When Iris Korfer was on holliday on Samos she found a tiny kitten which was sick, she didn't know what to do, untill she found out about animal care samos.

She brought the kitten to joeri and hoped that he could help this sweet little creature.

Because of this Iris felt the urge to help rhe animal on Samos one way or another.
She brought us in contact with her cousin Claire who works for Pet's place, a succesfull frachise, part of Ijsvogelgroep b.v.

Nick and Ingrid two of out volunteers traveled all the way to Nijmegen to collect some great donations!
Like dog and cat food, toys for cats, benches, beautyfull dog sofa's , almost to much to mention it all!

They support 6 welfare organizations and also us now, for which we are grateful and very happy!

We would like to thank everyone from Ijsvogelgroep b.v. especially Iris and Claire who made this possible!

Winter is coming......
2008-11-10
The winter is coming and the in summertime so hot island will turn into a cold, wet, windy island during winter time!

But no problem for our cats this year.

Sara who was volunteering in Samos had a great idea to make cathouses out of old patatoe boxes covered with sweet looking soft carpet.

The same night it was fixed on the wall in the garden the cats were enjoying it all ready!

So let the winter begin!

Great new feeding system!
2008-11-10
Because our dogs are living in packs it is important to keep the peace during feeding time, a lot of our doggies came in the shelter almost starving from hunger so of course they have to get used to the fact that the get fed every day enough for every one.

We used to put the food on the floor instead of in bowls the dogs were less competitive about the food this way, but it meant that if it was raining the food that wasn't eaten immediately could get wet.

Now Tom and Jan got this brilliant idea which would solve this problem.

Gutters which are normally used for roofs were fixed on the walls of the big fields and now the food is dry and on a comfortable height!

Things keep getting better and better on the shelter!

Animal Medical Care Foundation (AMCF) thank you!
2008-11-10
Our new partner Animal Medical Care Foundation (AMCF) did a very kind donation of suture material, deworming tablets, medicines and other useful things to animal care Samos.

It took the box full of donated goods over 3 weeks (!) to arrive at Samos, it survived all the strikes and arrived totality in tact !

The Animal Medical Care Foundation (AMCF) is a foundation whose goal it is to support animal refuges / shelters worldwide with medicine, medical equipment and other care products.

Please check out their website:

Water problem hopefully solved.
2008-11-08
As announced previously in the news, water what is used on the rubbish dump was taken from 150 metres under the ground.

This water sample was send to a German laboratory to test if it was safe to use this for drinking and cleaning water for the dogs.

Finally the test results came back, and the results are looking good! It is safe to use this for drinking water and cleaning water! So after years of struggling with the water and being depended of the (great) help of the kokkari fire brigade we could finally have our own running water source!

First we needed to get permission of the rubbishdump manager and he agreed and pointed a place where the shelter could make a connection with a pipe to the shelter.

So Joeri and Tom made a pipeline from the dump to the shelter which was 200 meters long!

This was really hard labour mostly because a lot of it had to be done by hand and the pipe had to go underground in a lot of parts!

But Joeri and Tom did the job and the pipeline was connected to the water system which was made before by Joeri on the shelter.

And then the moment of truth was finally there! Would there be water??

NO, unfortunately not.....there seems to be a problem with the pump on the rubbish dump so there is no pressure yet....

But we keep believing that there will be water soon!

TO BE CONTINUED

Animal Care Samos on the Dutch radio
2008-10-01
After 2 years without holiday joeri came to the Netherlands for some fun and meeting some people he met over the years during his work on Samos.

Also there was an interview on a dutch radio channel www.radiobeverwijk.nl

The radio interviewed Joeri, Erik and Thenya about the funding of the organization how it goes now an in the past about the trainingtrips with the WVS and so on.

Also there was a stand where people could buy T-shirts pens stickers and had the opportunity to become a member and some people did!

It was a great day! And looking back we can say it was a big success!

We would like to thank radio beverwijk for the opportunity to speak out for the animals on Samos!

Samos dog reunion in Holland!
2008-09-24
7th of September was a very rainy day but it was planned to have a small reunion with some of the samos dogs.

The dogs and their owners met in Amsterdam to continue to Spaarnwoude a big forest near Amsterdam.

fter all the dogs met and sniffed each other it was time to play and run around like crazy's!

All the dogs get along fine and that is so typical for our samos doggies!

After the walk there was a lunch arranged by tom and ingrid and everybody had a great lunch.

it was grat to see all the samos dogs so happy and their owners as well, it really shows the happy ends we want to see!

trainingtrip
2008-08-27
In july there was yet another trainingtrip under the guidance of ruth and math, 2 experienced vets from the UK who helped at our shelter before.

They were assisted by 2 nurses and 4 just graduated vets.

For the last four it was an unique way to master their skills and learn a lot in practice. A great way to gain experience!

ruth and math started 2 days earlier than the others, and in total all of them helped 76 dogs and cats. also some animals were helped with other surgeries needed.

it was great having them over and we hope to see them again on samos!

Thank you worldwide veterinary service team!

Drinking water problem and help from the firebrigade of Kokkari.
2008-06-20
We still have no running water in the shelter.
So we still have to collect it in the big bassin next to our place.

The rubbish dump, out famous neighbor does have hosing water at the moment, this water is being pumped out of the ground at a dept of 150 meters.
We took a sample and have send it to a laboratory in Germany to check if it is save to use as cleaning water for the kennels and the concrete fields.
We are anxiously waiting for the result and hope for the best , that it doesn't harm humans and animals.

Luckily we can always rely on the help of the voluntary fire brigade of Kokkari when we need drinking water for the animals.
They come with a huge tank wagon and bring about 8000 liters of water! That's an amount we use in about 5 up to 6 weeks.

Without their help we would be busy for hours every week to get enough water to the shelter.

We are very grateful for the effort and help the voluntary fire brigade of Kokkari is giving us, to help the animals!

So thank you very much all the volunteers of the Kokkari fire brigade!

Help from Finland
2008-06-13
We received a donation of over 100 kg of medicines for dogs and cats from Finland.(frontline, stitching material, collars and a variety of surgical equipment end even more) this will all come to very good use!

These medicines are donated by Sanna and Tina, they took it by airplane free of charge by their airline!

The money they saved by with the gift from the airline they used to buy dog and catfood on Samos to donate to the shelter.

Also Sanna rescued to puppy's unfortunately they were infected with parvo, and they didn't make it.
The medicines are donated by sanna, tina, and finsh members of p.p. and vets Taika tassv and Nurmijarven elaintlinikka.

Sanna took two dogs to Finland where their new owners were already waiting for them!

We would like to thank all the people and especially Sanna and Tina for all their efforts and donations to help the animals on Samos!

Sanna is trying to find out if it is possible to help more dogs to find new families in Finland

Nuetering campaign.
2008-03-19
In february there came another team over from the Worldwide Veterinary Service to do a nuetering campaign on the island Samos.

This time we had Matt, Ruth and Stavros over. It was great to have them they helped a lot of animals!

First transport 2008, a big success!
2008-03-19
In february the first transport of this year took place.

A fully loaded van went to Samos with Farida and Erni.

The way up was filled with rain and fog but they arrived safely after for days at the port of Samos.

Everything was unloaded and it was unbelievable how many good things came out of the van, medicine, dog food, kennels, benches, towels, blankets toys and so on.

After everything was unloaded it was time for a busy week on the shelter and in the house, because there were vets from the WVS to do a neutering program.

And then the day came to go back to Germany and Holland again with a van full with dogs on their way to a happy life!

You can all ready read about some of them in the succes stories section.

It was a long but fulfilling trip, and a happy end for all the dogs!

We would like to thank Danish Friends of Animals who made this trip possible!
